‘Understanding Dementia’ comes to Surprise on Feb. 9
 
An empowering presentation is coming to Surprise on Thursday, Feb. 9. "Understanding Dementia: A Challenging Journey" is a free event from 9 a.m.-noon at Grand Community Baptist Church, 18350 N. Goldwater Ridge Drive, Surprise. Hospice of the Valley Dementia Program Director Maribeth Gallagher explains how the disease progresses, and teaches caregivers how to connect with the person with dementia and reduce stress. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and a free continental breakfast is provided.

The West Valley Symphony’s Joshua Haake, principal trumpet, performs Arthur Arutiunian’s Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra, the Armenian composer’s sixth composition written in 1949-1950.  Concert includes Mozart’s Symphony No. 41 in C Major and Kodály’s Dances of Galánta.
